Universal Cleansing & Smudging Guide and Prayer
Cleansing & Smudging Guide
A step-by-step ritual to refresh your energy and sacred space.
Why Smudging?
Smudging is an ancient ritual used to clear negative energy, uplift the spirit, and bring balance to your environment. By burning sacred herbs like White Sage, Palo Santo, or Yerba Santa, you invite in light, clarity, and peace.
How to Smudge Your Space
1. Prepare Your Space
- Open windows and doors to allow energy to flow out.
- Tidy the area—clutter traps stagnant energy.
- Gather your tools:
- Smudge stick or bundle
- Fireproof dish (abalone shell or ceramic bowl)
- Matches or lighter
- Feather or fan (optional)
2. Set Your Intention
"I cleanse this space of all negative energy, unwanted influences, and stagnant vibrations. I invite in peace, light, and positive energy to fill this home."
3. Light the Smudge Stick
- Light the tip until it smolders. Let it burn 10–15 seconds.
- Blow out the flame gently—allow the smoke to rise.
4. Smudge Your Space – Clockwise
- Start at your main entrance.
- Move clockwise, wafting smoke into corners, closets, doorways, and under furniture.
- Say a cleansing prayer or mantra as you move.
5. Cleanse Yourself & Sacred Objects
- Fan smoke from feet to crown.
- Pass your crystals, tools, and altar items through the smoke to reset their energy.
6. Close the Ritual
- Extinguish the bundle in sand, salt, or a fireproof dish.
- Give thanks. Breathe in your refreshed space.
🙏 Cleansing Prayer
"With this sacred smoke, I cleanse and purify this space. I release all negativity, fear, and stagnant energy. May my home (or altar, crystals, and self) be filled with light, love, and harmony. I welcome peace, clarity, and positive vibrations. I ask for divine protection and guidance as I move forward in balance and serenity. So it is, and so it shall be."
Feel free to make this your own—your intuition knows what to say.
